San José Criminology Museum

Museo de Criminología de San José

Museo de Criminología de San José

In the capital of Costa Rica, one of the most curious and interesting museums to visit is the Museum of Criminology, a place to learn about the different investigations that have been carried out in recent years. It is located inside the building of the Supreme Court of Justice in San José, a few minutes from the Votive Temple of the Sacred Heart.

It is an interesting museum that was founded in 1981 with the aim of showing citizens and visitors in general how crimes of all kinds are committed, as well as how they can be prevented in the future. The tour of the museum allows visitors to learn about more or less famous cases, the investigations that were carried out, evidence, documents and all kinds of objects that tend to impress every visitor, especially some objects related to the most important crimes.

Besides trying to prevent crime, this museum aims to bring visitors closer to criminal investigations, how to follow the clues, police investigations and the different cases that have taken place in Costa Rica over the last decades.

You can make a visit to this Criminology Museum free of charge, both for Costa Rican citizens and foreign tourists, from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00, to see the collection on display inside.
